Own Worst Enemy

Through sports, particularly tennis, I have been fortunate to get to observe a wide range of people’s operating system. I got to have a glimpse of how different people take on experiences. This was with kids, teenagers, young adults, adults, and seniors. I have taught kids as young as 3 years old, and seniors well into their 80’s. Of course, everyone varies in degrees of skill, talent, ability, but the fascinating thing is that for the majority of people, those aren’t the things that limit their learning or experience on the tennis court, and in life, it’s the false identification of themselves. They carry with them a sort of an invisible entity, you can say, that tells them what is possible as it even knows.

Many people are their own worst enemy. What is possible isn’t set in stone, but if you set it in stone, then it is. It’s quite amazing how much limitations a person puts on themselves before an experience is even had, sometimes even way before a ball is hit, and then believes it to be true. Become aware for yourself on what kind of nonsense you impose on this human that you are taking a ride in, whether it’s internal, or external. Doing this will allow you to start to dissolve many barriers that were put up throughout your upbringing that you might not be even conscious of anymore.

Your human, has enormous capabilities. Sure, it also has limitations, but those are way less then you think, even if you can’t see it being the case at this very moment. This is also, why it’s really nice of the time that we are currently living in because you can find inspiration from people all over the world that may be in similar circumstances as you, that have found a way to break free and push past the limits that they found themselves in.

If you want to get good at anything in life, you will have to do it a lot! Perhaps, you might have some skill right off the bat, but if you ask any professional that has achieved amazing feats in their discipline, they will surely tell you that it took a monumental effort. What most people don’t know is that the physical effort is big, but the battle against yourself, is next level. The way the human learns is by doing something over and over again, and that has it’s challenges already, but while that process is happening, if you are constantly fighting yourself, that’s like being in a boxing match and getting hit by your opponent, and at the same time you are punching yourself in the face as well.
