Closed Eyes – Experiment

Here is a little experiment you can try. It’s very simple and anyone can try this if you have the ability to close your eyes.

Go to a park or a public place where there are lots of things going on, and where you can close your eyes without being in danger for a few minutes. Probably best to keep valuable things in your pockets haha. You can try this at home too, but you are familiar with that place, and therefore it won’t be as potent as it is in a busy place.

Next, set a timer if you’d like for 5 minutes or longer, and close your eyes and keep them closed for the duration of this experiment.

Now just sit there and be still.

If you try this and you haven’t done much meditation before, you will likely notice that you are uncomfortable with having your eyes closed where there is lots going on. The eyes being closed isn’t the problem, it’s your mind. You are too consumed by it and it’s bothered by everything.

Even if you last the 5 minutes. You will experience how uncomfortable with a simple thing as having your eyes closed you are. This is because there is no peace within, you are ruled by all that is happening either on the outside, or all the analytics that it creates without even seeing anything.

You have no ability to distance yourself from your mental, emotional, psychological or physiological dramas and this is where mostly all your suffering comes from, yet you go on blaming the world or other people rather than taking responsibility that you have been allowing all the happenings to rule over you because you haven’t understood your core.

You are bothered by everything and you allocate to everything else, but to yourself.

The weather, the sounds, the feelings, the thoughts, the people, the body, the future, the past, the fantasies, the time, the things missing in your life, the things you have in your life, the likes, the dislikes, and this goes on to infinity.

And that’s it, that is the experiment.
